The alps. The roads. The road bike.
In an unique way PEAKBREAK – The Alps Race combines them into an unforgettable experience full of competition and passion. Since its first holding back in 2008, PEAKBREAK has become an internationally recognised cycling tour for amateurs which provides new tracks with challenging moutaintop finishes every year.
In 2012 the team of PEAKBREAK proudly received the award for the „Best Sporting Event“ in Austria and since then, PEAKBREAK has been broadcasted in over 40 TV stations all over the world.
Also in 2018 PEAKBREAK – The Alps Race will offer legendary climbs, pure emotions and first class hospitality for everybody during the 1 week cycling tour. The passion for road cycling and the challenge to overcome around 15 alp passes has attracted participants from over 20 countries in the past 11 years.
As always the Alps Race takes place at the beginning of July in the south of Austria and the Italian part of South Tyrol. Anchor points during the race are e.g. Hohen Tauern, karnische Alpen and the Dolomites. As an absolute highlight, every year the participants pedal over Austria’s highest pass, the Glockner.
Starting point of the PEAKBREAK – The Alps Race is the Austrian state of Carinthia, where also most of the stages will take place. No wonder that within insiders the race is already called „The Tour of Carinthia“.
Furthermore, the race provides the participants with the unique opportunity to cycle the legendary roads of the „Giro d’Italia“ and the Tour of Austria – which marks an unforgettable milestone in every cyclist’s career.
No doubt, PEAKBREAK – the „race for everybody“ – should not be missing in the CV of any passionate cyclist.
As every year, the team of PEAKBREAK was working hard on coming up with new tracks for every stage. With success: In 2018 all 7 stages will not only make every cyclist’s heart beat faster but there are also quite a few premieres to celebrate. Most of this year’s stages will provide a spectacular mountaintop finish. Moreover, the organizers will introduce two circuits for the very first time in the history of the race.
Starting point for the PEAKBREAK – The Alps Race is once more Innsbruck, also host city of the UCI Road World Championships 2018. Hence this year’s PEAKBREAK is on the same level as the official side events of the world championships – something we are pretty excited about!
